Route 44 Bus

It was already late when I left school. I hurried as fast as I could and just managed to catch the last bus, Route 44.

“Beep. Student card.” I tapped my card as I got on, then greeted the driver. “Hello, Uncle Chen!”

I took Route 44 almost every day, so we’d gotten to know each other over time.

Uncle Chen sat in the driver’s seat as if he hadn’t heard me. He didn’t respond or start driving.

“Uncle Chen?” I called a few more times. “Uncle Chen?”

Suddenly, he whipped around. His face was covered in blood!
