The Anti-Japanese War's Main Front: A Complete Oral History by Kuomintang Soldiers

As a vital part of the global war against fascism, China’s War of Resistance against Japan tied down two-thirds of the Japanese Army and destroyed more than 1.5 million Japanese troops, around 70 percent of Japan’s total casualties in World War II.

The War of Resistance on the Main Front: A Complete Oral Record from Nationalist Chinese Forces selects the accounts of Nationalist Chinese generals and officers who personally fought Japan on the main front, recording what they did, what they witnessed, and what they thought in an effort to objectively recreate that stirring chapter of history.

The accounts include the blood and fury of major battles that leave the heart pounding, expose the corruption and poor discipline of some Nationalist forces, and recount the desperate struggles of the Chinese air force and navy against Japan’s mighty military. They also showcase the fearless patriotism of resistance volunteers and student soldiers who defended their country without hesitation, even at the cost of their lives.
