Later, she dragged the monk, who was on the verge of Buddhahood, down from his altar. He had let go of everything and willingly became an ordinary man.
He came to the underworld to confess his feelings to her, only to find her dressed in a brilliant red wedding gown, exchanging bows with a handsome man!
He was a monk who had already stepped halfway into Buddhahood, and he understood best that letting go brought freedom.
So he devoted himself to cultivation, hoping to reach the Pure Land sooner.
Unexpectedly, he progressed from seeing mountains as mountains and waters as waters, to seeing mountains as not mountains and waters as not waters, and then back to seeing mountains as mountains and waters as waters!
He actually went mad from cultivation, because the mountain he saw was her, and the water he saw was also her!
To save his life, they severed his ties of love...
