One day, at three or four in the morning, a boy accidentally rescued a girl by a small river in a mountain village.
From then on, they helped and cared for each other. As time passed, they fell in love and became hopeful about the future.
But because of social conventions, family, poverty, and filial obligations, they had no choice but to part in tears.
A few days later, the boy could only watch helplessly as the girl became someone else’s bride, and he sank into deep thought.
After that, they each set out on their own paths in life, weathering countless storms along the way.
More than ten years later, after both had experienced marital setbacks, the girl suffered a mental breakdown and became confused and unwell. She often sat alone by the river where the boy had once rescued her, staring into space, laughing foolishly, or crying.
By chance, the boy returned to the river where he had first rescued her and saved her once again. Watching the confused girl, he sank into thought.
Though she was no longer in her right mind, the girl recognized the boy she had once loved, who had saved her life. Rescued by him once again, she too fell into deep thought.
The two fell in love again. After facing family pressures and conflicts of their own, and enduring countless joys and sorrows, they overcame one hardship after another and finally came together.
With love and care, the girl slowly recovered, and at last the two had a child of their own.
After a love story marked by hardship, separation and loss, family upheaval, and every kind of joy and sorrow, they finally smiled happily together by the little river where he had once saved her, in the warmth of spring.
