This novel is based on the author's own life experiences. It portrays Qiaoyun as a strong woman, using her life and growth to convey the author's feelings and hopes. The ideals and wishes the author could not fulfill in real life are all realized through Qiaoyun. Like many hardworking, kindhearted women, Qiaoyun is obedient, considerate, and capable. She faces many hardships and setbacks as she grows up, bearing them in silence and confronting them bravely. In Qiaoyun's childhood, she has many brothers and sisters. Her parents are busy every day trying to make ends meet, while her older siblings are occupied with their own affairs. No one cares what Qiaoyun is thinking, and so she learns to be strong. But the wounds of childhood can take a lifetime to heal. As a little girl, Qiaoyun lacks her parents' affection, so when she reaches the age of first love, even a little kindness from a man makes her fall deeply in love. Shen Jie, her classmate in high school, pursues her relentlessly, and his letters full of sweet words soon win her heart. Only after they marry and have a child does Qiaoyun regret her impulsiveness. All along, another man, Xiao Jiang, has lived in her heart. To give her child a complete family, Qiaoyun initially thinks she should simply make do, keeping her pure love for Xiao Jiang hidden forever. But Shen Jie goes on to betray her again and again. By then, their child has grown up, and Qiaoyun finally finds the courage to part ways with Shen Jie.
Everyone's life is the same tortuous and exciting.
