A modern boy is often chased by ghosts in his dreams. One day, with nowhere left to run, he accidentally beats the dream ghost to death. The ghost takes revenge with its dying breath, causing him to transmigrate to an ancient otherworld where humans can cultivate immortality and practice martial arts.

The otherworld is in chaos, with the various provincial governors carving up the land and waging war against one another.
