Plot Version
1. Gu Jingxuan mistook the wrong person for the one who saved his life. Despite Lin Jinci's repeated reminders, he still fell for the wrong person. He thought theirs would be a love story in which both loved each other, only to discover in the end that from the very beginning they had both been using each other, and the one who gave her heart was destined to love without being loved in return.
2. Under what circumstances might someone mistake one person for another?
Twins, or dissociative identity disorder.
Lin Jinci has dissociative identity disorder. One personality fights to live, while the other longs for death. Each personality falls in love with a completely different person. Who will be the last one standing?
Character Version
Lin Jinci tried to kill herself but survived. After waking from a five-year sleep, she discovers she has a boyfriend, but he isn't hers: he belongs to her other personality. She also has several admirers, who belong to that other personality too. Then there's a man who claims to be her fiance. She knows him: he was the reason she tried to kill herself.
Even when the layers of fog disperse, we still cannot see the truth, because someone is always telling lies.
Gu Jingxuan suddenly asks, "Is it really dissociative identity disorder? Maybe you're just trapped in a lie, living as two people when you're only one."
Lin Jinci replies, "Maybe you're the one deceiving yourself. You just refuse to accept that she is gone, and desperately want to turn us into one person."
Whether she has dissociative identity disorder or is putting on an act, only she knows the truth.
