Stone and Civilization

New Author, New Book. No Mindless Power Fantasy, Please. Keep It Calm and Make the Logic Hold Together

Looking for books similar to Stone and Smoke. I'm looking for a broad coming-of-age story with a well-developed world, where the characters make progress one step at a time. It doesn't need a romance, and I don't mind whether the protagonist is male or female. They just need to be strong-willed, not weak and delicate, and not invincible.
