“My heart was once a barren wasteland, until I met you. Now, nothing in it is left to wither.”
[Campus romance X a little angst X happy ending]
Song Lingyu, the pursuer, grew up in a broken home. His father was a compulsive gambler, and his childhood was like a dark prison. It left him withdrawn and distant.
Xia Zhifan, the pursued, comes from a wealthy family and is gentle and modest. His father is busy with work, so although he has material comforts, he lacks affection and emotional support. Still, he is strong and steadfast at heart.
In a sense, this is a story of healing. Through a chance encounter that was not entirely accidental, two wounded people meet, are drawn to each other, and help one another heal. As they spend ordinary days together, they gradually come to understand their own hearts.
The buildup in the early part is quite long and can feel like a diary, so it may seem a little dull.
Most of the story’s high points come in the second volume. In the midst of a fleeting life, meeting you was fate.
Insist on having your own way. There will always be warm sunshine in the cold winter. Despite the regret, pain and longing, please let us remember that persistence. Xia Zhifan and Song Lingyu
