Pu Opera

In Fenyin County in southern Shanxi Province during the Republic of China, the fates of the three sons of the prominent Qin family were intertwined. The second young master Qin Junmin is determined to save the country through industry, but is repeatedly blocked from setting up a cotton mill; the third young master Qin Junqing is absurd and violent, and forcibly marries a young girl Lan Xiu, thus laying the foundation for disaster. Lan Xiu's old love Long Wu joined the beach bandits and later joined the revolution to form a workers' and peasants guerrillas. The wives and concubines of the Qin family are fighting for power inside the family, the brothers are facing oppression from the government inside the wall, frequent banditry, and the struggle to relocate the county seat. Eventually, the Japanese army approached, the county magistrate fled, and the Qin family's discrete cotton mill declined. Only the guerrillas moved into the mountains to resist. A history of the rise and fall of a family, reflecting the blood, tears, joys and sorrows of a turbulent era.
