Her Mother Makes a Fortune Running a Street Stall, While Her Son Rises to High Office as a Top Scholar

“Mom, where are we going? What are we going to do?” her adopted son often asks.

Mom: “What's our motto?”

The little dumpling: “Mom will get rich by setting up a street stall, and her son will become the top scholar, a grand chancellor, and a high-ranking official.”

Mom: “Add one more thing: we'll travel to famous mountains and rivers.”

One day, the little dumpling says, “I know you want to be the top scholar's mom, but why not find yourself a great general instead? There's a general who's really interested in you.”

She takes her little dumpling out to conquer the world, traveling far and wide and causing all kinds of trouble. Then, just as she's raising him to pass the imperial exams, she runs into an overbearing general who declares, “You're my woman.”

“You're so handsome it's pathological. Too bad I don't know you,” she replies.

“If you don't know me, where did this child come from?” the man asks, rubbing his temples.

“You bastard! So it was you!” she shouts angrily. (Four years ago, he was poisoned in an enemy ambush and ended up sleeping with her. A month later, she discovered she was pregnant and left to wander the world. He worked hard to become the most overbearing, scheming general around. Four years later, their little dumpling has grown, and the three meet again. Thus begins his quest to win her back.) Completely wholesome, with very sound values.
