My Empress Doesn’t Love Me

The older generation all knew that the eldest daughter of the current dynasty’s Defender General, though she always dressed as a man, was both scholarly and martial, outstanding in every way. She won everyone’s admiration and her peers’ envy. That was, until the winter she turned twelve, when several young masters from prominent families threw her into a lake. Only then did they discover she was a woman.

She had always thought she could be like her mother and marry the person she loved when she came of age. But fate had other plans.

That day, he said sorrowfully, “Qingyi, I don’t expect you to love me as you love him. I only hope you’ll never leave me.”

She fell silent. He was no longer the gentle Prince Duan she had first met. Perhaps she had never truly seen him for who he was.
