During the Xianfeng and Tongzhi eras at the end of the Qing dynasty, the Nian Army rebels ran rampant in northern Anhui. After they stationed troops in Zhao Village, a series of dramatic, gripping events unfolded. Two men as close as brothers found themselves serving opposing sides. One rose to wealth and glory, while the other met a violent end. Based in part on historical events and real places, this novel tells the tragic story of the peasant uprising’s demise and, from another perspective, the helplessness of those forced to serve different masters.
Come on!!!!!
The plot has ups and downs and is not very interesting at first glance. After reading a few chapters, it gradually gets better. It is quite fascinating. The details are true and realistic, and the characters are vivid. However, there are some small flaws in the text, and the wording needs to be carefully edited.
