The Loyal and Righteous Brother, Jiadai

Jia Dai, whose real name was Ren Jiazhong, was born in Beijing in 1963. He grew up in poverty, dropped out of school at an early age, and entered the streets, making his way in the underworld. In those circles, Brother Jia Dai was renowned for his loyalty and generosity. He stood by his brothers through thick and thin, spent freely on his friends, and treated even strangers with courtesy. But when it came to his enemies, he struck hard and showed no mercy. Jia Dai was handsome and refined in appearance, but fiercely ambitious at heart. While still young, he headed south to Guangzhou and made his mark in Shenzhen. Unable to stand by when the weak, the old, or the young were bullied, he repeatedly stepped in to help. His defeat of Dong Batian in Shenzhen made him famous overnight. In the years that followed, Jia Dai carved out a domain for himself in Shenzhen. The Northeastern, Chaozhou, and Hunan gangs all feared him. Jia Dai personally dealt with Xiang Huabo. Zhang Ziqiang, the notorious king of thieves of the century, admired Brother Jia Dai so much that he treated him as a sworn brother. Later, Jia Dai befriended Yuan, Bing, and Yong. From then on, his career, wealth, and connections reached the pinnacle of his life, earning him the title “King of Shenzhen.” Yet Jia Dai never forgot his roots. He returned to Beijing and helped many old-time toughs and local gangsters. He came to the aid of those in trouble and was deeply respected by people in Beijing’s underworld. Jia Dai was also the person Bai Xiaohang respected most throughout his life. Jia Dai had many friends in the entertainment industry, including Ge You, Ma Weidu, Liang Tian, Zang Tianshuo, Ren Dahua, and Yu Qian. Among his younger associates were Jinggangshan, Ma Wenjun, Chen Yufan, and Wu Jing. The breadth of Brother Jia Dai’s connections was truly impressive. Sadly, on May 31, 2020, Brother Jia Dai passed away from lymphoma, leaving the underworld without him and only his legend behind.
