Tracing Dust Through the Mortal Realm

“Why come back? Why come back?! Nothing will change, nothing at all!!” The voice in his mouth abruptly fell silent. The peerlessly handsome man, beautiful enough to seem almost demonic, calmly put on a monocle. His fractured expression settled back into one. “Sorry about that. It worked, and he slipped out for a little bit.” “Hmph. You really do have a nasty sense of humor,” said the red-and-white-haired man, making no effort to hide his revulsion. “But still, he’s right. What gave you the courage to face me again? I snapped your spine and destroyed everything you had. Shouldn’t you be lying on the ground in despair, watching the world warp around you? Is there anything left in this world worth clinging to? I didn’t leave you with a thing after I was done playing with you.” The handsome man seemed a little puzzled as he teased him. “Don’t tell me the paltry flames of revenge have made you lose your mind. Then the masterpiece I so painstakingly crafted would be a complete failure.” “Hahaha, that’s right. A weakling like me should never have had the courage to face you again. I ran away, but the nightmares closing in around me have haunted me ever since. I should have been on my knees, screaming and roaring in vain.” A deep madness flashed in the red-and-white-haired man’s eyes. The voice in his mouth sounded like a curse. “But the world’s deadliest poison is the poison called hope.” “It’s enough to make me fly into the flames like a moth, chasing that infinitesimal miracle.” “Hahahahahaha!” His eyes were bloodshot. “I’ve staked my paltry life on this. Are you ready, my trusted Yagami?” Strictly speaking, this story is driven primarily by emotion, with touches of fantasy, alternate worlds, and the supernatural.
