Twenty years ago, a love affair between a married young writer and an innocent girl ended with the girl giving birth prematurely, dying of a baby girl, and suffering a mental breakdown. Then, the writer truly presented this emotional experience in a best-selling book, which changed the lives of everyone in the two families. In the lingering sound of the New Year's Eve bell, the trilogy of life, love, marriage, and family, also plays, rippling in the floating world.

This book is very good! The characters written by Kawabata Yasunari have delicate and real emotions. I particularly like the character of Oki. His loneliness and desire for love are very resonant. Moreover, the descriptions in the book are very artistic. For example, the description about the swivel chair and the ringing of the bell made me feel as if I was personally there, feeling the loneliness in Da Mu's heart and his yearning for a better life. All in all, this is a book well worth reading.
