The Us Who Came After We Faced Death

Being alive isn’t the goal. What matters is living well.

They come from society’s lowest rung and face the twists and turns of fate. Some lose themselves, some are reborn, and some disappear.

Three girls, three families, three paths through life. Childhood shadows, upheaval at home, confusion in the springtime of youth, love’s disillusionment, and the awakening of the self… Ordinary lives filled with extraordinary events, with a little of you and me in every one of them.

Told through a blend of present-day events and memories, this novel looks back on the first half of ordinary girls’ lives. There are sweet romances and comeuppances for scoundrels. The story is grounded in reality and ultimately hopeful. The ending brings both regret and fulfillment, but each character writes a remarkable chapter on life’s uneven road, guided by their determination to build a better future.
