Tens of thousands of years ago, the Demon Lord of the Demon Realm and a fairy of the Immortal Clan fell secretly in love. The Heavenly Dao flew into a rage and imposed a heavenly punishment. The fairy died on the spot, while the Demon Lord willingly sealed himself away for tens of thousands of years, hoping only that her soul would enter the cycle of reincarnation.
To punish them, the Heavenly Dao set a calamity in motion and split the fairy’s soul in two. One fragment was sent to the Underworld, where it could never be reincarnated. The other was divided again: one fragment was sent to the human world to be reborn as a mortal, enduring the torment of reincarnation for ten thousand years, while the other was placed in the Heavenly Dao’s Mirror of All Things, where it remained in chaos for tens of thousands of years.
The moment his seal was broken, the karma binding them began to turn once more. There was no escaping it.
Her eyes filled with tears. “So everything you’ve done was to use me and then take his place?”
He looked at her and answered honestly. “Yes.”
“A Xuan, you’ve forgotten the love we shared ten thousand years ago, haven’t you?”
He held her in his arms. “I’m afraid. If I forget this time, I’ll never remember it again.”
Ancient ferocious beasts have returned to the world.
She died in his arms while saving the people of the human realm. The person he loved had died in his arms twice, and Di Xuan’s black hair turned white overnight.
Yun Ying’s armor was soaked in blood, and blood dripped from his sword. He hunted the ancient ferocious beasts day and night, the only way to numb his heart.
It was because both he and Di Xuan had fallen in love that the Heavenly Dao grew enraged and plunged the Three Realms into turmoil.
With her hair now white, Di Xuan stood atop the divine peak and asked Yun Ying in a detached voice, “Will you join me in fighting the Heavenly Dao?”
They would stand against the Heavenly Dao only to prove that love exists in this world, that all things have feelings, that love can transcend everything and is not a burden.
