"Fantasy on the Sickbed" tells the story of "I"'s various false and true hallucinations due to toothache; "Ghost Whispers in the Daytime" borrows the conventions of detective novels to contradict the logic of reality; "The Story of a Man Turned into a Monkey" tells the story of the geisha Aran being entangled by a monkey; "Li Bai Turned into a Fish" tells the story of a fake fish claiming to be Li Bai; "Gourmet Club" tells the story of a glutton chasing after someone who can satisfy his appetite. These stories are all based on a seemingly normal framework of facts. As the plot deepens and the characters advance, they constantly use "illusions" to develop the content into absurdity and become astonishingly unconstrained.
