On the vast continent of Saintiadoli, people have always looked out for one another and lived in harmony, just as the fairy tales describe. This continent shares two other realms: Heaven and Hell. Heaven celebrates goodness, while Hell bears the burden of evil. The two realms keep the balance of good and evil on the continent, preventing it from veering toward either extreme.
In Heaven, angels are forbidden from descending to the mortal world. They can only seek representatives in the churches of Saintiadoli. Through the statues carved by those who worship them, the angels bestow blessings of divine radiance. A blessing might take the form of a book, a sword, or even a necklace. In return, it gathers a force known as goodness from the mortal realm, sustaining Heaven.
Hell, meanwhile, must claim a force known as evil to strengthen itself. This force often comes from the darkest side of people's hearts, and is released most fully after death. So Hell makes pacts with mortals capable of withstanding a demon's curse: they trade their freedom for demonic power, and in return serve Hell for the rest of their lives.

After stepping down from his post, Jun Wei chose a remote corner of Saintiadoli and opened a flower shop, intending to spend the long life he had taken from angels and demons.
It was only when the laws protecting the world could no longer restrain Heaven and Hell, and his quiet little home could no longer shelter his ordinary life, that Jun Wei's fate began to turn once more...
