Embracing the Sunshine

[Sunny basketball-playing boy & tragic, aloof girl; gentle, flirtatious male lead; healing; devoted to each other; happy ending]

Gu Xichen first met Su Mo on a film set after shooting had wrapped. Her aloofness, so out of place for a girl her age, immediately caught everyone’s attention. Unlike the other children, she seemed far too mature and indifferent for her years. Gu Xichen remembered her name, and the cast photo stayed in his home.

Years later, the two ended up at the same university. Gu Xichen’s basketball hit Su Mo as she walked past the court. He recognized her at once as the girl from back then. Her gaze hadn’t changed over the years. As a child, she’d looked openly cold; now, that coldness was masked by a sense of distance. She seemed gentle, yet like a mirror, reflecting everything she saw. Gu Xichen grew intrigued.

“You can turn me down, but I won’t give up. I have no shame.”

“Being with me could get you hurt.”

“It’s fine. I’ve got thick skin.”

“Gu Xichen, don’t make me regret this.”

To her, he was the light that shone before the last lamp went out, her salvation in a world of darkness.
