I set down my bowl, slipped under his arm, and straddled his lap.

He looked utterly shocked, as if I’d done something outrageous.

I didn’t care. I’d already drawn my bow; there was no way I could back out now.

I gazed deeply into his eyes. After a moment, I parted my lips. “Doctor Meng~ Would you like to taste how sweet this watermelon is?”

His gaze slid downward and fixed on my lips, stained red with watermelon juice. His Adam’s apple bobbed visibly. Just as he was about to kiss me, I leaned my head back, close enough for him to see but not reach.

“Wen Jiangjiang, you’re teasing me on purpose, aren’t you?” he asked, raising an eyebrow, clearly annoyed.

I ran my fingers over his brow, down the bridge of his nose, and finally over his lips.

“Want a kiss?” I asked patiently.

“Yes.” He stared at me, and there was more in his eyes than a simple wish for a kiss.

I hurriedly said, “Call me ‘baby,’ and I’ll let you kiss me.”

Suddenly, he laughed. “You’re deliberately seducing me just to hear me call you baby?”

I bit my lip in frustration. He’d seen right through me.

He wrapped an arm around my waist and pulled me against him, then cradled the back of my neck and gave me a deep kiss, the kind that left you needing to catch your breath afterward.

Shyly, I buried my face in the crook of his neck. He breathed warm air against my ear. “You got your way, baby.”
