Women's silence ends here!
This book is a classic masterpiece by Chizuru Ueno, the author of "Patriarchy and Capitalism". She made a concluding review of women's thoughts in the 20th century through an in-depth analysis of women's thoughts in eleven famous works by eleven famous thinkers.
Since the 1960s, feminism has ushered in its dawn, and Chizuru Ueno, who was in the formative period of her thinking, was also deeply influenced by it. Through a general review of the pioneers who pioneered female thought, she passed on their footprints to subsequent women. The main body of this book is divided into two parts: the first part is entitled "Rereading the Book of Women", which interprets the works of Japanese female writers and critics such as Morisaki Kazue, Mitsu Tanaka, Tomioka Takiko and Mizuta Muneko; the second part is entitled "Reexamining the World from a Gender Perspective", which deeply analyzes the female thoughts of influential scholars such as Michel Foucault, Edward Said, Eve Kossowski Sedgwick, Joan Wallach Scott and Judith Butler.
Today, feminism has entered the mainstream of society. This book has a very pertinent and authoritative judgment on our correct view of women, feminism, and women's thoughts. Once published, it immediately aroused widespread social repercussions and became a must-read classic work to understand women and women's thoughts, and to grasp the ideological context of Chizuru Ueno.
Reader comments
This book provides an in-depth analysis of women's thoughts, written in a clear and easy-to-understand style with smooth prose. Through the interpretation of the works of different thinkers, it shows how women gradually construct their own discourse system. The characters' behaviors and thoughts in the book are very enlightening and gave me a deeper understanding of feminism. Worth reading!
The postscript summarizes the content of the book very well, but I feel like I still didn't read it deeply enough.
