Tales of Past and Present: The Final Eclipse of the Three Kingdoms

[Plot-driven] [Multiple historical dynasties] [Not a wish-fulfillment story]

This is the story of a modern man tracing his family’s roots through various dynasties, crossing blades with generals and debating scholars. It begins in the Three Kingdoms era!

Starting at the age of five, Hu Nan spent an hour every night submerged in a pitch-black medicinal tub under his parents’ supervision. He kept it up for fifteen whole years.

At twenty-one, Hu Nan still had no idea why his parents made him do it. Then his studio’s inbox received an anonymous submission containing a photograph, along with instructions to go to Gulongzhong in Xiangyang and investigate what it showed.

At the high-speed rail station, he met Si Xingchen, who was also headed to Gulongzhong. During their conversation, Hu Nan was astonished to discover that Si Xingchen was his former college classmate and was going to the very same place. But once the train set off, he realized their meeting was no coincidence.

It was as if a pebble had been thrown into the calm waters of Hu Nan’s twenty-one years of life. This single invitation set in motion the story of six great merchant houses and six families, entwined with two thousand years of Chinese history.
