The Duke Is Too Frail to Care for Herself

[Political Intrigue + Strong Female Lead + No Male Lead + No Romance]

She was a female general who commanded troops with godlike skill and slaughtered her enemies on the battlefield. But caught in a political feud, she nearly died, and she exhausted herself plotting to fulfill her wish: to spare the people of the world the suffering of war.

She was once a noble, radiant general, returning in triumph in her bright armor, dazzling countless eyes.

She was once a youth who came cloaked in moonlight and carrying the scent of plum blossoms, riding beneath a slanted bridge and drawing countless women to her.

“Generals bring peace to the realm, but are never allowed to live to see it.”

She toyed with people’s hearts, threw the court into turmoil, and watched from the sidelines as her enemies fought one another.

She was ruthless. When her only elder brother refused to remain her puppet, she killed him on her chessboard.

With the same hands, she could wield a blade and draw a bow on the battlefield, or whip the court into a storm of intrigue.

“I don’t want the throne. The well-being of all under heaven is at stake, so the emperor must be someone who cares about what the people care about.”

With only four years left to live, she laid her plans, hoping only to unite the four kingdoms and spare the people the suffering of war.

She died on the eve of peace. When the sun rose, the rivers ran clear, the seas were calm, and the harvests were plentiful.
