A Nobody's Persona Crumbles on a Dating Show, Then She Goes Viral

[Two Strong Leads + Secret Crush + Dating Show + Sweet Romance]

Zhang Niannian shot to fame five years ago as the lead in a low-budget web series. But after she refused to give in to her company's executives, they sidelined her for two years.

After that, the company threw every minor role it had at Zhang Niannian: a vicious supporting character, a tea-serving maid with only two lines, and an assassin killed with a single stroke by the protagonist before she could even speak...

At the beginning of this year, the male lead from her debut work won the year's Best Male Artist award in one fell swoop thanks to his new drama. Fans dug up his debut again, stirring up quite a commotion. He became popular all over again, and Zhang Niannian somehow got caught up in the buzz, too.

That was how Zhang Niannian got the chance to join one of the country's top dating shows.

She hadn't wanted to join a variety show, but then her assistant told her that whoever earned the most points on the dating show would receive a cash prize. She was tempted.

Gu Yichen, a top-tier star, joined the dating show in a fit of anger after the female lead of his latest project promoted them as a couple. But even on a dating show, female contestants would still chase after him to pair up. His manager, Kevin, said Gu Yichen must have ulterior motives for joining a show where he'd take a thousand hits to deal a thousand, only to hurt himself in the process.
