What? The Class's Last-Place Student Is a Genius

Tang Ran was once a godlike presence at Anping No. 1 High School. At fifteen, she left for the provincial capital with the parents she had never met. She thought they would lavish all their affection on her, but instead she was left battered and bruised, and returned to the small county town that had raised her for fifteen years.

At the first exam of her senior year, Tang Ran took the place of Lin Mingze, who had held last place for ages. Everyone assumed that her return meant she had fled the big city, unable to adapt. The genius had finally fallen from her pedestal.

At school, she endured unprecedented ridicule and scorn.

But just when everyone thought Tang Ran would never get back on her feet, she quietly climbed back to the top.

Lin Mingze had one greatest wish: for someone to take his place as the very last student in class.

When Tang Ran joined Senior Class Nine and took his place in her very first exam, Lin Mingze practically saw the girl as his savior. Out of sympathy for the underdog, he looked after this classmate who was even worse than him in every way.

Lin Mingze: “I finally found someone worse than me. I can’t let her get away.”

But later, when his deskmate broke the school record, Lin Mingze was left reeling.

After that, Lin Mingze struggled to beat Tang Ran, but every attempt ended in failure.

Since you can’t beat them, you might as well win them over.

Lin Mingze: “Tang Ran, how about we start dating?”

Tang Ran smiled calmly. “No dating before the college entrance exams.”

And so, a craze for studying swept through Lin Mingze and all of Senior Class Nine. While everyone else watched for laughs, convinced that this hopeless bunch would never amount to anything, the students of Senior Class Nine flung their bright red acceptance letters right in their faces.

Holding his acceptance letter, Lin Mingze asked, “Tang Ran, how about we start dating?”

Tang Ran... “All right.”
