Transmigrating to Another World to Become a General

Gazing at the sky outside the window, which looked like a raging sea, Zhong Yuan sighed. “Sigh, another blizzard. What was I thinking when I drew this internship assignment?”

That’s right, this place was a border town at high altitude, with hardly anyone around. It was either blizzards or sandstorms, and the only thing to do was bare your teeth at snow leopards.

“Who knows what you were thinking? Hurry up and close the window. I don’t mind if you freeze into an icicle in the middle of the night!” said a thin young man with bright, alert eyes.

“Fine, I’m going, aren’t I?” Zhong Yuan said as he walked over. It had already been more than half a year since he picked this place. If nothing unexpected happened, he’d spend the rest of his life here playing at baring his teeth at snow leopards.

“Why’s the wind so strong today?” Zhong Yuan exclaimed as soon as he opened the door and the wind swept him away.

“Young man, could you give me a hand and pull me up?” said an old man dressed in a black robe.

“Uh, sure… Aah!”

Just as Zhong Yuan touched the old man’s hand, which was no sturdier than a dead branch, everything suddenly went black.

“Where am I? You old geezer!” A little while later, after a wave of nausea, he finally came to. But when he saw the scenery around him, Zhong Yuan immediately turned to the black-robed old man beside him and demanded an answer.

“Young man, there’s no need to rush. Well… this place is exactly what you see: the place you people call another world,” the black-robed old man said calmly.
