All My Students Are Ghosts

The protagonist, “I,” is Xia Zhuqing, also known as “Ghostie,” a recent college graduate who has struggled in vain to find a job.

At a job fair, without any interview process or formalities, I was picked by a recruiter who looked like an old security guard and hired by a school. Somehow, I ended up signing a contract.

With no teaching experience and never having imagined I’d stand at the front of a classroom, I began my career as a teacher.

But I never expected that, after I entered the school, my students would prank me during my very first class, revealing the school’s true nature: all my students were ghosts, and even the beautiful teacher Dong Xiaoxiao, who lived with me, was a ghost.

I couldn’t wait to escape the school, but the old man from the security office who had hired me gave such a moving, heartfelt speech that he persuaded me to return. I became a ghost teacher.

But my teaching career was anything but smooth.

As a new teacher with no experience, I was constantly given a hard time by Zhang Min, the head of Student Affairs.

Out of sympathy for my students’ parents, I secretly took the students off campus so they could see their parents one last time. I broke the school rules, got caught, and was punished.

Because I was too blunt and refused to back down, I clashed with the school’s First Lady, who made my life difficult.

And I still had to match wits with those little troublemakers from time to time.

I accidentally ate ghost food and nearly died;

I helped a student move a grave;

I accompanied a student back to the land of the living for the third anniversary of a loved one’s death;
