Life was simply wonderful. The merfolk, too, grew from a small tribe into the City of Ten Thousand Beasts. The people were honest and the economy flourished, as best exemplified by the coal-fired train chugging along.
As life in the beast world gradually got back on track, Yun Mei stopped resisting Qing Yu, and the two officially became mates.
“I met Yun Mei first.” Ying Zheng’s heart was utterly shattered.
“Everyone, get out of the way! Yun Mei belongs with the Beast King!” Shi Hao shouted, refusing to back down. He was fully committed to competing for a mate.
“Stop arguing. Yun Mei chose me, after all.” Qing Yu beamed with smug delight. After hoping and waiting for so long, he had finally won Yun Mei’s heart.
