It feels like they are living in front of me. Moreover, Professor Zhang Ming's writing style is also very humorous, which made it very easy for me to read. This reminds me of "Those Things in the Ming Dynasty", which also tells history in a relaxed and humorous way. However, "Xinhai: Shaking China" focuses more on the history from the late Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China, which gave me a deeper understanding of that era.
