Disfigured

A mysterious new tenant moves into the apartment above Xu Ying. He leaves early and comes back late every day, sometimes making a terrible racket in the middle of the night. Yet Xu Ying doesn’t seem to mind.

Lin Qiao, a young detective, has been haunted for years by the suspicious suicide of his younger sister, Li Wen. His investigation has recently made a breakthrough, but at the same time he has found himself in another predicament. Ten years after Li Wen’s death, another woman’s body is discovered at Danzheng Reservoir, twenty kilometers outside Guangliang. It was where she died, and besides a pair of red dance shoes on the victim’s feet, the scene holds no clues. Everyone is at a loss.

Before one crisis can pass, another strikes: a brutal crime takes place in the city. The killer turns himself in, but is also hiding a secret he can never reveal.
