Yan Qingci is a bronze-token Blade Wielder of Jing'an. She has lived as a man for more than a decade. She has only one goal: earn merit tokens, find the entrance to the River of Forgetfulness, and return to the modern world.
Pei Sanlang, the third young master of the Pei family, feels sick whenever anyone touches him. Then a blood-soaked woman strips off his clothes, and her hands are warm.
“Don’t touch me.”
“Your wound is bleeding. If I don’t touch you, you’ll die.”
From then on, he lets no one but her touch him.
Later, standing before the stone platform at the entrance to the River of Forgetfulness, he tells her, “You go. I’ll stay. I’ll wait twenty years.”
She turns away. The bridge closes.
“Either we cross together, or neither of us goes. Pei Sanlang, remember this: I’m not going anywhere.”
Later still, someone asks him, “What if you forget her after your soul is split?”
He grips the green jade bead, its surface reflecting the shadow of an old locust tree.
“If I forget, she’ll tell me again. Her name is Yan Qingci. Yan as in Yan Qingci, Qing as in Yan Qingci, and Ci as in Yan Qingci.”
It's really well written. I'll continue to follow up with the plot. I'm looking forward to the next chapter. I have great ideas. I'll keep up the good work.
