The Locked Room

“Do you trust me?” Ning Xiaoxing looked down at her.

Cheng Yixuan lowered her head, her mind in turmoil.

Wind howled past their ears, and above them the sky was being torn apart.

Neither of them had really thought through how this would end.

But if they could do it all over again, they would make the same choice.

“Of course I trust you.”

Cheng Yixuan took a few quick steps to Ning Xiaoxing's side. “If we get the chance, there's something I want to tell you.”

Ning Xiaoxing took her hand and teased, “Can't you tell me a little of it now?”

“Not a chance,” Cheng Yixuan replied softly.

Two seconds later, they looked at each other and burst out laughing into the wind.

The wind was so strong atop the high-rise that they could barely keep their footing.

A thunderous rumble suddenly sounded nearby. The building was splitting apart.

Cheng Yixuan closed her eyes and tugged at Ning Xiaoxing.

Ning Xiaoxing held her tight and whispered in her ear, “This time, it was worth it.”
