The Kid I Raised Has Learned to Care for Me

[Transmigration + reborn + woman disguises herself as a man + sweet romance + clever scheming]

For the seven years Yu Sheng disguised herself as a man and served as Regent to protect Zhao Xu, she worked tirelessly for the country, laboring day and night. She also kept Zhao Xu safe and carefully taught him.

At dusk, Zhao Xu emerged from the ancestral hall and stumbled over to throw his arms around Yu Sheng. “Brother Yu, I know I was wrong. Please don't be angry or ignore me. I'll study hard with you from now on, and I won't let down our Zhao ancestors.”

Yu Sheng steadied Zhao Xu as she looked at the head buried against her shoulder and sighed. “No one's perfect. All right, have Xiao Lizi help you back to rest. Come see me at the Hall of Diligent Governance tomorrow.”

Zhao Xu kept his head buried against her. “Mm.”

He still hadn't let go of Yu Sheng. She smiled and said, “What are you doing? I already stopped scolding you. Aren't you going back?”

Zhao Xu finally realized he was still clinging to Yu Sheng. Blushing, he let go and said, “I'm going back. Don't be disappointed in me.”

After four years apart, before he recognized Yu Sheng, he merely nodded and passed her by.

After he recognized her, he climbed over the wall in the middle of the night and stood outside her courtyard, still too afraid to expose her lie, continuing to treat her as a friend.

At last, the longing of these four years seemed to have found its home. “The begonias are still awake. I can't help feeling that you should be by my side right now.”, Yasunari Kawabata
