The Federalist Papers are a collection of essays written by Alexander Hamilton, John Jay, and James Madison in New York newspapers under the pseudonym "Publius" in an effort to obtain ratification of the new Constitution. In 1787, a national convention in Philadelphia drafted a new constitution. However, during the ratification process in the states, there were two diametrically opposed opinions on the new constitution: one for and one against. Thus took place one of the most heated debates in American history. This book is the product of this debate.
