Stepmother

The heroine, Yingxia, was born in the 1870s. Raised in poverty, she developed a kind and determined nature from an early age. She had little joy in her childhood, and adulthood brought one unhappy marriage after another, until she became a stepmother. Though she was a stepmother, Yingxia devoted herself wholeheartedly to her family and did everything she could for them. In her lifetime, she experienced the hardships of life and its many bitter and sweet moments, as if she were Tang Sanzang on his journey to the West, enduring eighty-one trials. Her story offers a vivid sense that life is both hardship and spiritual cultivation, while also revealing the greatness of an ordinary woman. After weathering the storms, she will surely see a rainbow.
