The Lucky, Gorgeous Ox

Niu Meimei had always loved to eat. As a calf, she once wandered off just to get another mouthful of tender grass. A passing immortal mistook her for an orphaned calf and, fearing she was too young to survive out in the wild, took her away on a whim of kindness. He had a young servant bring her some of the lowest-grade spirit herbs and fruits each day, then promptly forgot all about her. Niu Meimei had no idea why she had suddenly found herself in a completely unfamiliar place. But when she saw all that delicious food, nothing else seemed to matter. She gradually grew up, and after eating food infused with spiritual energy every day, she gained intelligence and learned to understand the world around her. One day, driven by her appetite, Niu Meimei snuck into the immortal's herb garden and ate a thousand-year-old spirit herb. Its power was too strong, and she transformed into human form. Sadly, she couldn't survive the tribulation lightning and died beneath it. When she woke again, she had become Niu Meimei in the 1970s. At first, she was afraid others would realize she was a transformed cow and not the original Niu Meimei, so she was constantly on her guard. Then she accidentally dripped blood onto the droplet-shaped black stone around her neck. It gave her a pocket dimension, a spirit spring, spirit fruits, and even divine strength. Looking at the family who cherished her, Niu Meimei vowed to give them a life with white rice and braised pork at every meal. Only, she accidentally caught the eye of a roguish soldier. Lin Chuyi: Meimei, you left me behind.
