The Empress Takes It Easy

While battling her dissertation for three hundred rounds, Mu Zihan, a management PhD in 2022, accidentally worked herself to death. She thought her brief life had come to an end, but to her surprise, she was chosen by the System and transmigrated into a novel she had just finished reading. Just like that, she became the imperial consort of the Kingdom of Jin, The Outcast, second only to the emperor and above everyone else. The new emperor had just ascended the throne, and the nation was in mourning, so he put off the matter of appointing an empress. Thinking of the novel’s later plot, where the original owner drowned, was poisoned, became entangled in witchcraft, and ultimately saw her entire family executed, Mu Zihan felt a headache coming on. Now all she had to do was lie low in this turbulent inner palace. Since the novel said the emperor had postponed appointing an empress for the sake of the woman he held dear, why not do him a favor and let things be? She would take it easy from then on. But once she started slacking off, why did the emperor suddenly seem so strange? Could this be fate?
