Sui Xin’s greatest wish was to find a decent job, earn two taels of silver a month, and take good care of her grandmother. On the fifteenth of every month, she would put five copper coins in her dressing case, hoping that one day, before she married, she could have a phoenix hairpin made just for herself.
After picking up Xue You, Sui Xin’s wishes boiled down to three simple things: earn money, care for her grandmother, and raise Xue You.
But why was raising him getting stranger by the day?
He did the laundry and cooking, earned money to support the family, and somehow, before she knew it, she’d even married him in a wedding ceremony.
Then the two of them went to the capital, and Xue You suddenly revealed himself to be the crown prince.
Sui Xin: QAQ This isn’t quite how I imagined things.
Rumors and gossip ran rampant in the capital. They upset Sui Xin so much that she secretly wiped away tears under the covers at night.
She cried softly and tried to stifle her sobs, making sure the person behind her wouldn’t notice.
After she’d cried for half the night, Xue You finally couldn’t take it anymore. He turned her around by the back of her neck and glared at her, looking fierce and angry. “What are you crying for?”
Sui Xin’s tears fell in two fat drops. “They all say I’m not good enough for you… They call me a country bumpkin.”
“Bullshit.” The crown prince rarely swore. “If anyone dares say that tomorrow, I’ll rip out their tongue.”
That night, he kept her busy for quite a while before she finally fell asleep in peace.
Just before dawn, the crown prince gazed at her sleeping face for a long time, then went out with his sword.
Sui Xin had a good dream for the first time in ages. When she awoke, still drowsy, she was startled to see a servant kneeling beside the bed.
The old servant, his bones nearly falling apart, kowtowed to the ground. “Crown Princess, please go and rein in His Highness! The crown prince has gone on a killing spree!”
I just read dozens of chapters. It's pretty good. I wonder if there's a physical book available?
Although I have only read a dozen chapters, I really like Sui Xin's character and hope she can be happy in the future.
