The story of this book is really touching. Especially in the short story "Two Fuyang Girls", the fate of the platoon leader changed because of a joke. The development of the story is full of chance and necessity. I really like the part where the little wolfdog cries out. Its whimpers make the whole story even more tragic. Mai Jia's writing style is sophisticated and vividly depicts the fate of the characters, which made me unable to put it down.
