This book is so beautiful! The stories written by Shoji Shimada are always so bizarre, making me feel like I am in a mysterious world. Especially the character Mitarai Keiyoshi, his famous saying "There is no impossible crime in the world" impressed me deeply. The author's imagination is really rich, and every case amazed me. I am already a fan of Shoji Shimada!
These four books are quite well written, and I'm even glad that they are short stories. Except for the Shimada Shoji Sui, who is relatively simple in the Shiden Kai, the others feel like they could have allowed Shoji Shimada to publish three major books. The thing that touched me the most was the confrontation with the history of Japan's invasion of China in the Shiden Kai. I'm not sure when it was published, but I read I can't help but admire content like this. The last time I was able to do this was Haruki Murakami's "Assassination of the Knight Leader" and Miyuki Miyabe's "The Hakusei Residence Incident." It's really rare for such a famous Japanese writer to set such an example, and I'm very grateful. I've read the remaining three chapters with great enjoyment!
1: The scumbag-like president. At least Mitarai gave Miyata an unforgettable Christmas gift so that he didn't have so many regrets.
2: Namura and Kubo are solely to blame.
Three: Sekine's mentality is quite good, even though it's a done deal

This is the first time I read Shimada's short story. Overall, the style is very Mitarai. Logic is also very good
The short story feels compact and not protracted. Among them, the story about Zidian Kai is the most interesting to me!

What I like the most is the author's monologue and creative concept about the character Mitarashi Kei at the end.
For a short story, the plot is gorgeous and beautiful, the characterization is stable, and the last chapter (although it is suspected of sophistry) can be said to predict various discussions in Japan today. It deserves five stars.
