Jiang Rao'er, the last disciple of Perfected Yuhua, is a notorious troublemaker in the Lingshan Sect. Though young, she outranks most people, and she has always relied on her master's indulgence to throw her weight around, earning resentment throughout the sect.
One day, she unexpectedly gets to become a master herself, taking in a gifted disciple of exceptional talent. The trouble is, her disciple is better than her at everything, and being outshone is terribly frustrating.
Jiang Rao'er: “This is the Soul-Devouring Finger, a technique every Lingshan disciple must learn to slay demons. Give it a try, my disciple.”
Chao Yan flicked a finger, shattering a boulder. Jiang Rao'er was so frightened her legs trembled.
Jiang Rao'er: “Lately, evil demons have been causing trouble at the foot of the mountain and disturbing the people. My disciple, I order you to go deal with them. Leave at once.”
Chao Yan drew her sword and cut through everything in her path. Demons, monsters, ghosts, and spirits were all terrified and fled far away.
The people of Lingshan praised her without end, saying Perfected Yuhua had taught her well and that the good-for-nothing Jiang Rao'er had gotten lucky.
Chao Yan smiled. “It's all thanks to my master's teaching. If she wanted to surpass me, it would be the easiest thing in the world.”
