"The History of the Changes of the Yellow River" is a work that explores the three thousand years of changes in the Yellow River. It embodies Mr. Cen Zhongmian's idea that learning should be beneficial to the world.
Mr. Cen Zhongmian started from the issue of Emperor Yang of the Sui Dynasty digging the Tongji Canal, and traced it back to "Shang Shu Yu Gong", "Historical Records He Canal Book" and "Shui Jing Zhu" to try to understand the truth of the ancient Yellow River. On the basis of extensive collection of historical materials about the Yellow River in historical records of the past dynasties and reference to private writings, through careful sorting and analysis, we have basically clarified many entangled issues about the Yellow River in history, such as the origin, course and how to break the theory of the Yellow River's "double origin". When was "Yu Gong" written? What is the relationship between the Yin and Shang's frequent capital moves and the Yellow River? The old path of the Yellow River before it moved in the Eastern Zhou Dynasty; how each dynasty combined the management and utilization of the Yellow River for more than two thousand years from the Han to the Qing Dynasty; the changes in the course of the Yellow River before the Yuan Dynasty; why there were so many river problems in the Ming and Qing Dynasties; etc. In the book, Mr. Cen Zhongmian also evaluated and summarized the river management experiences of past dynasties, including their views on river management and the development of river management technology, providing valuable advice for the management of the Yellow River. As soon as this book was published, it had an important impact in the fields of water conservancy and history, and was hailed as "a masterpiece that systematically studies the Yellow River issue."

I think of a friend of mine who lives on the edge of the Yellow River and often tells me stories about the Yellow River. This book is very helpful for understanding the history and management of the Yellow River. It also reminded me of the book "General History of China". They both gave me a deeper understanding of China's history.
