Clarissa, the wife of a diplomat, likes to joke and is full of imagination. She often imagines that one day she will go downstairs and find a corpse in the library. Unexpectedly, as the prophecy came true, she actually tripped over a corpse in the living room! To make matters worse, her stepdaughter Pippa confessed to her that she was the murderer.
That night, her husband will bring a mysterious foreign dignitary to his home to meet with the Prime Minister. For the sake of her husband's career and to protect her stepdaughter, Clarissa tried her best to persuade three guests at home to help cover up the murder... Unexpectedly, the police showed up uninvited. Clarissa had to start weaving lies, and a spider web pulled everyone into a trap...

Agatha's "Spider's Web" is so wonderful! I especially like the character of Clarissa, she is witty and humorous, and full of a sense of justice. The lies she weaves in the story are like a spider web, drawing everyone into it. This reminds me of another book by Agatha, "No One Survived," which is also full of suspense and surprises.
Clarissa is really a typical cry wolf image, she loves to joke so much that others don't believe her, even though what she says is the truth. However, this is a very funny comedy, and the charm and warmth of the characters are impressive.
Protecting family and friends, their characters are very fleshed out and their dialogues are very interesting.
