You’re Always on My Mind

[An early practice work with rough prose. Don’t read if that bothers you.] (Feel-good story + mutually devoted couple + one-on-one romance + childhood sweethearts + wealthy family + prodigies + entrepreneurship + campus life + sweet, healing romance + he pursues her + mutual devotion + secret love becomes mutual + everyday ensemble cast)

“You’re already my big brother. What other title do you want?”

“Don’t play dumb. You know what I mean: future girlfriend!”

“That’s so cool!”

“Of course! You’ve read Water Margin, right? ‘We weren’t born on the same day, month, or year, but we hope to die on the same day, month, and year.’”

“Don’t let her fool you. She talks about swearing brotherhood, but the moment she heard we’d have to cut our fingers, she ran faster than anyone. In the end, we had no choice but to use ketchup. She almost threw up when she drank it.”
