"Footsteps of the Chinese People" is one of the "Pocket Books of Red Classic Literary Works" projects. This project invites authoritative experts in related fields to join forces to select 100 red classic literary works that are highly representative in the history of modern and contemporary Chinese literature, and publish them in batches in the form of "pocket books" that are more in line with current readers' reading habits.
"Footsteps of the Chinese People" includes three short stories and short stories written by Yang Shuo during different periods of the Chinese revolution: "Red Stone Mountain", "Wangnan Mountain" and "Northern Line". "Red Stone Mountain" was written after the Anti-Japanese War. It describes the heroic struggle of Xuanhua Longyan Iron Mine workers against Japanese imperialism. It is an early Chinese novella that reflects the struggle life of workers. "Wangnan Mountain" and "Northern Front" were written by Yang Shuo during the War of Liberation, when he served as a reporter for Xinhua News Agency and a political worker in the army. "Wangnan Mountain" describes how after the surrender of the Japanese invaders, the peasants in Cha'nan, Northeast China, fought against the Kuomintang army and landlord armed forces to protect the fruits of victory. "Northern Front" describes the story of a small People's Liberation Army unit that moved to North China during the Liberation War and fought bravely and tenaciously against the Kuomintang troops. These works depict the heroic behavior, dedication and growth process of the people's soldiers in a bright and enthusiastic style. The whole book focuses on the profile of the people in the Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei Border Region against imperialism, feudal forces and bureaucratic capitalism. The three novels were written closely with the sound of the cannons of New China, which can be said to be the "footsteps" of the Chinese people's victory under the leadership of the Communist Party of China.
