Long Live the Emperor

This story takes place in a dynasty that never existed. After lasting for several decades, Wu Zetian’s Zhou Dynasty was finally defeated by the army led by Li Longji, who restored the Tang Dynasty. It became known as the “New Tang.” Li Yan transmigrated into the body of a prince who shared his name. Unlike other transmigrators, who strove to rise in the world, he greatly preferred a comfortable, carefree life. His consort was Yang Yuhuan, his eunuch attendant was Gao Lishi, his bodyguard was Li Bai, his young page was Du Fu, and his foremost general was Guo Ziyi. The “Four Great Frontier Poets” were his drinking buddies, and he discussed affairs of state with Yao Chong and Song Jing. As for the likes of An Lushan and Shi Siming, they were fit only to fawn over him. The one fly in the ointment was that his brother, now emperor, was constantly afraid Li Yan would seize his throne and kept trying to harm him. Left with no choice, Li Yan had to do his brother the favor of managing the beautiful and bountiful realm in his place.
