My Ears Whisper to Me

[Top student and tech mogul × cochlear-implant user and woodcarver]

They save and understand each other, growing together. Happy ending.

Shi Jing lost her hearing in an accident as a child and has worn a cochlear implant ever since. She is used to keeping apart from the crowd, always feeling that she doesn't belong.

That is, until she meets Gu Chen, a transfer student. She can't understand why he says he wants to put down roots and build a career here. She was born and raised in this place, yet has always wanted to leave.

Encouraged by Gu Chen, Shi Jing decides in her senior year of high school to apply to an art academy. With his help, she becomes an apprentice and begins studying woodcarving professionally.

Gu Chen tells her that he is proud of her, and that one day she will become a master carver like her teacher.

They think that after four years of a long-distance relationship at college, they'll finally be able to live together. But Gu Chen's half-brother, seeking revenge, tries to hurt Shi Jing. When an accident occurs, Shi Jing uses excessive force in self-defense. To protect her, Gu Chen makes a deal, and the two are forced apart again for two years.

In the middle of the night, Shi Jing dreams that Gu Chen never left. He gently whispers in her ear, “My baby, don't be afraid. I'm here.”

She also remembers what Gu Chen told her on the eve of their parting: “Be good and wait for me to come back.”

Shi Jing believes no one could ever be better than Gu Chen. How could she possibly not wait for him?

So that year, when she saw him in a small town in Yunnan and he held out his hand to her, Shi Jing obediently went home with him.

By then, Shi Jing had made a name for herself. In the end, she returned to the city she had once hated and opened her own studio.

For the rest of my life, wherever you are will be home.
