A Buddha Like a Blue Lotus

In his previous life, he was a Buddha. With his time nearly up, all he needed was a thousand-year-old lotus seed to cleanse the impurities from his body and attain Buddhahood on the spot.

And she was the last thousand-year-old green lotus in the world.

She had yet to take human form, but she already possessed a mind of her own.

When he finally overcame countless obstacles and reached her, intending to take her lotus seed, she knew she couldn’t escape and trembled with fear. Her shivering petals made the Buddha beside her laugh.

“Heh, how interesting. Very well. You’ve cultivated for a thousand years, too. I won’t take your heart.” His deep voice rang out.

The Buddha sat in meditation beside her. She had no idea how much time passed before something suddenly fell into the center of her flower.

“What pure spiritual energy!”

She absorbed it with all her might. Thunderclouds gathered overhead, and bolts of heavenly lightning came crashing down. Sustained by that spiritual energy, she endured all five strikes without a single injury. She took human form, and an immortal aura appeared around her.

When she opened her eyes, the Buddha was gone. She went to the human world and found a Guanyin temple. Only after receiving Guanyin’s guidance did she learn that, with his time nearly up, the Buddha had refused to take her lotus seed to survive his tribulation. In the end, his body and spirit were destroyed, and the nine sections of his Buddha bones scattered across the world. One section had fallen onto her true form. That was the key to her attaining an immortal body.

Guanyin told her that to resurrect the Buddha, she had to gather all nine sections of his Buddha bones and use her heart.

“Are you willing?”

“I am.”

You spared me, unwilling to hurt me in the slightest. So I’ll do everything I can to help you attain Buddhahood.
